So….
I flew up to Minneapolis, interviewed, and got offered a job about a week and a half ago by The Big Red One (Think: Bullseye logo, lots of red, “expect more - pay less”). And I spent all of last week making up my mind as to what I wanted to do. The job offers more money, better benefits, and probably more opportunity in the short-term. But, in order to take the job, I have to move to Minneapolis (Home of MooCow, Sascha, Jesster, and Prince. We must never forget Prince).
And as some of you may remember, I just bought a house here, just got a promotion at my job, all of my friends live here, my nephew is starting college here in a few weeks, and KSG lives here. We must never forget KSG.
I’ll spare you my thought process, as at times it was lucid, logical, and methodical and other times I was on the Choo-Choo Train to TangentTown. I also really want to say thanks to Moobert for providing me with a forum to get a lot of info to help me make my decision - which I made this weekend.
I’m turning the job down today and staying here.
It’s going to take a LOT more money, and be able to provide me with the opportunity to really have an impact on the biz that I work for in order to uproot my life here, move away from KSG (who I know would’ve come up eventually cuz she’s good like that) and my friends, never sleep a single night in the house I tried so hard to get, and replace the palm tree in my front yard with an ice-fishing house on Lake Harriet (or one of the other 9,999 lakes there). And that’s not a slam, my minnesotan friends. I think your state, and your city are beautiful, and it looks like there are tons of ways to have a great time. It’s just not in my blood. yet.
I’ve got to call them today and let them know the news. I do want them to keep me posted about other opps up there, though. Now that they’ll know my reservations requirements, perhaps my phone will ring with a 651 number again in a year or so…
But, in the meantime, I’m staying where health food is unheard of, you can smoke anywhere you like, PBR is $1 a can, you buy your Christmas tree in shorts, you can go to a NASCAR race on Sunday, and an art exhibit on Monday - and see the same people, and KSG and I can drive to the ocean and eat our usual brunch of eggs benedict each Sunday.
