“Al Jessup of Beckley adjusts one of his 12 satellite dishes Saturday at his home on James Street. All 12 dishes are in working order receiving 5,000-plus radio and television stations and Jessup plans to buy his 13th soon.”
Lew Whitener/The Register-Herald
Sometimes, I’m afraid that this might be me someday…
I also think that this pic is great for another photo caption contest…or at least the picture on the podcasts…
After a 20lb turkey, two casserole dishes of stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet pototoes, broccoli & cheese, lasagna (that’s right - lasagna), apple, pecan, and pumpkin pies, I’m about to bust the buttons on my pants, y’all.
Annie and I are gearing up for our next show (Episode Three: Friends, Fowl, and the Attack of the Inebriated Nephew) which will be ready for you by the end of the week, I hope.
In the meantime, how was your holiday? Ours was great (as you can see from the title of the upcoming show…). Couple of highlights below:
1) Annie got to see her best friend, who happened to be in D.C. at the same time.
2) My mom and I baked the turkey, made the stuffing, the gravy, and the mashed pototoes. (If you want a kickass recipe for a golden brown turkey that’s juicy as heck, shoot me an email or leave a comment…)
3) I went to the greatest grocery store of all time - Wegmans. I love grocery stores, y’all. It’s like a field trip for your stomach!
4) Annie went undefeated in all board games (Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture Edition, the 90’s edition, and Cranium).
5) My nephew went from zero to obliterated in 60 seconds. We’re still not sure how that happened.
6) We drove a total of 17.5 hours in the car and still like each other.
7) We saw houses that make the vonTrapp family’s place look like it belongs in 8 Mile.
8) Annie met my neighbor’s llamas. And didn’t like them.
9) It snowed (for about five minutes).
10) I learned that Annie should go into either cartooning or the greeting card business, after she drew caricatures of my family (after the bombed nephew night).
That’s it for now. Stay tuned for the upcoming Scenes From the Next Whatever! If you haven’t listened to any of the shows yet, check us out in iTunes or Yahoo! Podcasts, or you can go here, or here. If you like ‘em (or even if you don’t), please leave a comment (we’re comment junkies). Better yet, subscribe to the show, and you’ll get notified as soon as we post ‘em!
Thanks, and I think your shirt is very nice today.

I just wanted to update you on a couple of things.
1) We’ll be doing a new show really soon (next couple of days - maybe we’ll do a TurkeyCast!)
2) I’ll keep linking to our podcasts from the ol’ blog here as we produce ‘em.
3) I haven’t quit blogging. It’s been a little crazy up in here up in here over the last couple of weeks.
4) For folks that are just interested in the podcasts, want more information on how to subscribe, or want/need to download a player, aggregator, etc., you can go here. It’s a free site provided by Feedburner that displays all of our podcasts, and links to players, subscriptions, and more.
5) I’m going to eat an obscene amount of stuffing (I make it!), and my mom’s lasagna (my nephew HATES turkey, so she bakes up a pan for him) in approximately 48 hours.
In the meantime, check out that Feed burner site if you get a chance. See that picture at the top of the page? It’s kinda funny, no? Well, we want a better one. Send us a pic that you think would be a good “logo” for the show, and if we use your drawing, photo, whatever, we’ll send you something cool. Kickball stickers, shirt, or some other cool thing that’s lying around the house…
Y’all be good. sort of.

What we’ve got here is a a very special 3-minute Scenes From the Next Whatever…Actually it shouldn’t count as a SFTNW, since it’s Annie-free. Think of it like a DVD extra - only without the DVD…
Here it is, and here’s the scoop behind it:
I had my friends over a couple of nights ago to play some music. We played for a couple of hours, and then sat down at the table and goofed on each other for awhile over some beers. I just happened to have recorded it! This is just a few of the clips from that night mixed in with a Beastie Boys/The Who mashup called Frontin’ On The Root Down. Check up mashuptown.com for more tunes! Hope you enjoy! Annie and I will be back very soon with Episode 3! Until then, have a great weekend evurybuddy…
PS - there are some f-bombs dropped in this episode. just warning you…of course, I did not utter them…

UPDATE: I just added a subscribe button on the right side of the page through Yahoo!Podcasts. When you click “Subscribe” it tells your music software (like the Yahoo! Music Engine or Apple iTunes) what podcast to download. Then you can get notifications of new episodes whenever they’re available. It’s just like RSS for regular old blogs. This message is mostly for my mom and KSGM…
Just checked out iTunes this morning, and we’re in!
I know we only have one show up so far, but we’re planning on putting up “Scenes From the Next Whatever: Episode 2″ Sunday night.
So feel free to come back here Sunday night/Monday morning, or if you want to subscribe to our podcast so that it’ll download automatically each time we update, give the directions below a try (there are other ways to subscribe, but this is one of the easiest, and most people have iTunes on their computers nowadays…):
1) Open up iTunes
2) click on Music Store
3) under the “Inside the Music Store” column (on the left), click “podcasts”
4) In the search window, type in Kickball Superstar
5) Our show information will appear in the upper window.
6) click on the “subscribe button”
7) enjoy the tasty goodness.
I’ll figure out a way to put up subscription buttons on this site, too, but for the time being, that’s what I’ve got…
Should be a good show Sunday. We’ve got an improv performance (together!) tonight, an interesting wedding tomorrow night, a bunch of construction workers replacing the roof on my house, and a few odds and ends to discuss. So, stop by, subscribe, and listen in…We’d be much obliged. I
Did you get a haircut? You look very nice today,

Hey folks -
Click here for our first quasi-official podcast…
I’m trying to get it set up in iTunes also. That way you can subsribe to the show and have it automatically download everytime we do a new one (we’re looking at once a week for now)…
We had some difficulty with the volume, so you’re probably gonna have to turn it down for the first 5 seconds, then up pretty high for the remainder of the show. Hope you enjoy it. I put some show notes below so you can get an idea of what to expect. We also decided that while we’ll always be KS and KSG, that it was ok that we used our names in this ‘cast…
Please let us know what you think! Leave a comment!

Just got my results back on a couple of moles I had removed last month. The moles were dysplastic (my moles didn’t look all weird like the photos on this link, I assure you). The doc said I don’t have anything to worry about, but I’m now scheduled to have a full body mole hunt in February. Who would’ve thought that a dude whiter than a fish belly would have pre-cancerous and dysplastic moles? WTF?!?!
Anyway, I’m ok, you’re ok, we’re all ok.
Have a good weekend, evurybuddy. I’m off in a few hours to watch KSG doing her improv thing.
Oh, P.S. - KSG and I were mock hosts of a film festival here in town last week. We got a mention in the City Paper (though not by name - check out the second paragraph). But that’s not why I’m P.S’ing. During our interview thing, there were mock-protesters that were all pledges of the C0fC’s Sigma Chi fraternity. A couple of ‘em had cameras and were taking pics of the event. Well, one of them posted their pics on the computer interweb so that their brothers and friends could see ‘em, and the pic of KSG’s caption reads, “She was hot.”
Damn right she was.
